About Us
Welcome to Montclaire Elementary School! Located in Los Altos, California, Montclaire is proud to be one of 23 schools within the award-winning Cupertino Union School District. We are a deeply rooted neighborhood school that has served local families for over fifty years, currently welcoming approximately 400 students from Transitional Kindergarten through fifth grade.
Montclaire has been repeatedly named a State Distinguished School in recognition of our outstanding school-wide programs, academic excellence, and deep community involvement.
Our Mission & Values
Montclaire, like our district at large, celebrates diversity as its greatest strength. We are firmly committed to developing an inclusive, caring educational community in which each individual has an equal opportunity to achieve their highest potential.
The school and the community view themselves as a "family" and a "team," demonstrating mutual respect, care, and open communication in everything we do.
Community Leadership & Support
Our school thrives thanks to a powerful partnership between dedicated staff, talented students, and heavily involved families. This collaborative spirit is anchored by two key groups:
Montclaire Parent Teacher Organization (MPTO)
Montclaire is incredibly fortunate to be supported by the MPTO, a non-profit organization that engages the broader community to contribute to the quality of education at our school. Through their fundraising and volunteer efforts, the MPTO sponsors vital enrichment programs, community events, and classroom resources.
Joint School Site Council (SSC) & ELAC
Each year, a School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) is established to set school priorities and review how funds support our academic goals. This plan is managed by our School Site Council, an elected body made up of parents, teachers, staff, and the principal.
To honor our community's valuable time, our SSC meetings are combined with our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) to ensure all student programs are reviewed cohesively.

Get Involved
Parent support is visible in every corner of Montclaire, from classroom volunteering and organizing our dynamic trimester after-school enrichment programs, to attending our monthly joint SSC/ELAC meetings. We welcome and encourage all families to join the Montclaire team!
